Welcome to Prison Link
Progressive Prisoner Reform

What does Prison Link do?
We are a volunteer-lead, non-profit charity working with offenders and their families to reduce the likelihood of reoffence, taking a compassionate approach to justice, building bridges and not walls.

We currently support the communities of Birmingham and Sandwell in the UK.

Building Bridges, Not Walls
Prison Link was founded in 1985 and has since helped over 4,000 families, with over 2,000 volunteers people completing the Basic Prisoner Training course.
Refocus for Kids
Refocus for Kids is a new initiative of Prisonlink that tries to bring together our community kids. Last year, 21 children from 7 to 17 years old found in our activities an workshops a place to learn and reunite.

Did you know that
in England and Wales…
-
Recidivism is a costly and persistent issue. Between 2013 and 2014, 46% of adult prisoners were proven to have re-offended within a year of release. The figure was 60% for people sentenced to less than a year.

-
In 2010, the National Audit Office (NAO) estimated re-offending by recent ex-prisoners cost the economy between £9.5 and £13 billion annually.

-
Between 2010/11 and 2019/20, Justice spending fell by 25% in real terms, making the work that Prison Link does even more important.
